separate subtasks from main task in kanban view

Love the update with subtasks! Currently in kanban view though, the subtasks are locked into the project, so when a task is moved to a new status, all the subtasks are too. Sometimes subtasks have different deadlines and don't get started when the main task is started. I'd like the option of visualizing and managing tasks and subtasks through their status.

Hmmmmm. I would not want that to become the only or default view. In my opinion, a task is started as soon as one of its subtasks is started. The tasks is completed once all its subtasks are completed.

Robert Maszkowski I totally get where you're coming from: the parent task’s status should reflect the overall progress of the subtasks. I’m not suggesting changing that behavior by default, but I think it would be really helpful to have an optional setting to manage subtask statuses independently.
The issue I’m running into is when the parent task is moved to In Progress, all subtasks automatically show In Progress too, even if some of them haven’t started yet or are waiting on other subtasks to be completed first. I work a lot with dependencies. For example:
- Subtask A is actively being worked on → makes sense to be In Progress.
- Subtask B can’t even begin until A is done → but right now, it automatically shows In Progress when the parent task moves, even though no one’s started it.
