Trello Integration

Geoff: We also need the reverse functionality. For instance, when a task (formerly deliverable) in a project is moved to "in progress," it adds a card to an "in progress" list in Trello.
Why? Well, there is currently no option in Hectic to set up a flow that automatically moves a task to "in progress," "done," or any other project stage.
My partial workaround is an IFTTT integration using TickTick, Google Calendar, and Trello. This gets a task automatically added to TickTick and a card added to Trello for the task. (It also saves me a Zap.) The card title doesn't necessarily match Hectic's task, but it always includes the contact's first and last name.
To close the loop, I need something in Hectic that moves the deliverable based upon the Trello actions. Unfortunately, the available fields in a project seem to be missing task name and project stage.

Melissa Kelley: what would trigger the task to change stages? External input or something happening within Hectic?

Geoff Mina: In the IFTTT workaround I currently have set up, the Trello card is archived when I complete the task in TickTick.
For instance, say I complete a client's first-draft document. It's been in "In Progress" while I've been writing it. The Trello card being archived would then move that task to "Client Approval," and for extra credit it would rename the task to "Your First Drafts" and open a first-draft email template for me to customize and send to the client.
TickTick's Zapier integration lets Hectic approve a deliverable, as well as create things like invoices and forms. Plus, using IFTTT to help (because I already have a premium subscription there) minimizes the number of Zaps I need.

Hi Stacey Eaton is the idea here that you can be working from a clients Trello board and have the state synchronized back to Hectic so you can work inside of Hectic - or are you trying to use Trello in lieu of the Hectic Project Management tools?
Stacey Eaton
Hi Geoff - Definitely not replacing hectic tools - I am just getting good at using the workflows! I usually will brainstorm long term solutions and goals with clients in Trello, then prioritize and choose projects to move forward with. Once chosen, I could send a card from Trello to Hectic to turn into a proposal/quote/agreement and/or project/deliverable, and I would continue the PM in Hectic at that point.
Hope this helps and isn't too specific of a use case!

Stacey Eaton: Cool. That's what I was looking for. I was curious what you wanted to happen with the integration... based on what your use case is, I do agree that Zapier might be the right fit here if you want to take a Trello card and turn it into a Proposal / Quote.
