Todoist Integration
Geoff Mina
Hi Amy Dudbridge and Caitlin Rulien I have taken a look at Todoist previously... but just curious if you could share a bit of your thoughts on a couple of items here.
1 - do you think this "Todoist-like" task manager would be part of our Project Management system - or would it be another standalone module? What are the core features you would want to see in Hectic that Todoist does, but Hectic doesn't?
2 - If we just went the path of integration - what would you hope the integrated solution accomplished? Would todoist work show up within Hectic? Would you hope to be able to invoice clients for work accomplished in todoist?

Hi Geoff Mina, I would expect it to be an additional module, but have the ability to connect a certain task or task list to a project and/or deliverable. Todoist allows you to set up folders to group tasks together, or add labels to filter tasks which I find really useful. For example, I'll tag tasks as waiting or calls to group similar tasks together. There is also a priority marker with 4 levels of priority. I do tasks based on priority rather than deadlines (although todoist has deadline functionality on its tasks as well) so the priority feature is really useful. You can set a priority level as a shortcut, so I have priority 1 tasks show up in a specific list.
On the tasks themselves you can include descriptions, add files, add subtasks, so similar to deliverables in Hectic.
I would use the task list as a general place to list any of my to-dos as well as project to-dos, so an extension of the homebase task list. What could be nice is if we could choose where tasks entered on homebase go, so it could be that they get added to a task "inbox" ready to be filed (another Todoist function), or it could show the highest priority task list and more tasks can be added to it from homebase as well as from the task manager. I'd probably get more use from the priority task list.
As regards to invoicing clients for tasks accomplished via the task list, if they can be linked to projects / deliverables and have time tracking ability, that would allow me to invoice the clients for time taken on a task.
I'd also expect tasks written in deliverables to be included on the main task list tab.
Hope that helps, happy to discuss over a Zoom too if you want me to show you my todoist setup.

Amy Dudbridge: I would love to take you up on doing a screen share to see where exactly the feature gap is. Our preference would be to eliminate the desire to use ToDoist (as opposed to integrate)... just need to understand what our Tasks/Project management are lacking to be able to effectively manage both your personal and business tasks in the same place.
Let's find some time in September as we have a pretty packed development schedule for the next ~6 weeks.

Or have a Todoist-like task manager in Hectic so everything's in one place
